Green Teams in Action: Three Rivers Homelink

The Green Team at Three Rivers HomeLink in Richland, WA have embraced the reduce, recycle, reuse mantra. Working with the city, the team successfully added a second recycling bin to capture more recyclable materials to reduce the amount of waste going into the garbage. Students also tested out various methods to educate their school community about the benefits of recycling, proper sorting guidelines (like breaking down boxes), and opportunities to recycle in the classroom. Students and staff also discovered creative ways to reuse materials like cardboard boxes for writing/drawing pads and to repurpose items for event decorations to cut back on one-time use options. Way to go, Three Rivers Homelink!
