Make It Happen

1.2 million students spend their days in K-12 schools across Washington State. You can ensure they gain the skills and hands-on learning opportunities needed to be successful leaders. Our state depends upon the next generation… And Washington Green Schools is working with you to give them the tools they need to succeed.

Green Teams in Action: Olalla Elementary

Over 80 students are part of Earthkeepers, the Green Team at Olalla Elementary! Together, with the help of their Green Team Leader and other school staff and administration, the Earthkeepers set out to transform nearby Triangle Park into an outdoor education area for students.

In development this past summer, the park will include multiple teaching stations, an amphitheater, a vegetable garden, a rain garden, local culture elements, and much more. The Green Team is planning to use produce grown in the vegetable garden to support classroom learning about nutrition and healthy eating. Another interactive learning experience slated for the upcoming year is for students to release praying mantis, stick bugs, ladybugs, and butterflies into the gardens.
